Miradi user roles are generally the most important dimension in managing access to Miradi project content and Miradi program content. Project and program user roles work in combination with Program Type, Project Access State, and Data Privacy rules to determine who has access to view and edit content.
There are eleven user roles across Miradi projects and Miradi programs, including the anonymous user (people not logged in with a Miradi account):
Project Membership
Miradi Project Membership is assigned independently for each Miradi project. A user may have different project roles for one or more Miradi projects, and may be a member of a project without being a member of the Miradi program that owns the Miradi project.
The five project member roles are listed in order of greatest access to least access:
- Project Owner (one per project) – currently has the same permissions as the project manager.
- Project Manager - able to view, check-out, check-in, edit and delete project at all stages of the project.
- Project Editor - able to view, check-out, check-in, and edit project at all stages of the project (can not delete project).
- Project Partner - able to view and download project for viewing in Miradi Desktop at all stages of the project (full content, including redacted content*) but can not edit project content.
- Project Viewer - able to view and download project at all stages of the project (public, unredacted content only*).
* See Project Data Privacy - Set Up Redaction Rules for Miradi Programs for more information about how to define specific data fields as "private".
Miradi Project Members can be viewed under PROJECT OVERVIEW > People & Groups > Miradi Access. (NOTE: Team & Partners displays the People (and Groups) entered in this project for purposes of work planning and implementation and does not relate to Miradi access.)
Miradi account-holders are added to projects and assigned project member roles under PROJECT ADMIN > Miradi Access.
Program Membership
A Miradi user may be a member of multiple Miradi programs and may have different program roles for each program. The four program member roles are listed in order of greatest access to least access:
- Program Manager - views and edits program-level information, including managing program members, program location data, and creating and managing custom data views and custom report templates. Within program, views full content of all projects, and may create, edit and delete projects online. The Program Manager(s) are considered the primary contacts for the program.
- Program Admin - currently the same permissions as program manager.
- Program Partner - views program-level information. Within program, views basic content of Private projects, full content of all other projects. See more about how Project Access State determines which content is visible to program members.
- Program Viewer - views program-level information. Within program, views basic content of Private projects, public content of all other projects. See more about how Project Access State determines which content is visible to program members.
For those with appropriate program permissions, Miradi program members can be seen under PROGRAM OVERVIEW > People & Groups > Miradi Access.
Program Admins and Program Managers can add program members and assign member roles under the PROGRAM ADMIN > Miradi Access. (Hover over the role name to access the Edit pencil)
Other Non-member Miradi Users
In addition to Miradi users with project membership and program membership, two other types of visitors to Miradi Share are able to see some project and program content:
- Logged-in non-member - users with a Miradi account who are not a member of the project or the program
- Anonymous - visitors to Miradi Share who are not logged in with a Miradi account
Both of these user types can view public content of public projects within the Standalone space and within public programs, and program-level content of public programs.
Logged-in users can also download public projects to view in Miradi Desktop. Anonymous users can not download public projects.
