Do I need Miradi Desktop or Miradi Online?
For now, access to Miradi’s full capabilities requires an online Personal Account and use of Miradi Desktop software. Both are included with any paid Miradi plan.
Miradi Desktop was initially a stand-alone software system. Over the past few years, Miradi Share was developed as a companion online system for sharing information. Now, these two systems work together as "Miradi".
As of mid-2022, project teams can edit most data directly online, but, you must still check out your Miradi file to edit some content in Miradi Desktop. Eventually, full online editing capabilities will be enabled, at which point Miradi Desktop will no longer be required. Miradi Desktop will continue to be available as a legacy system. See Plans & Pricing to determine which system is right for you.
Is Miradi available in languages other than English?
Although Miradi Online is only available in English, Miradi Desktop is available in many languages. Registered users can download "language packs" from the main Miradi Desktop download page. There are Tutorials on our YouTube Channel that explain how to install the language files. Some languages may not be fully up-to-date with the most recent version of Miradi, in which case most of the interface will be in the desired language, and the new/untranslated portions will be in English. We have designed the software so that it is relatively easy to produce versions in other languages. We would like to develop partnerships to translate and distribute Miradi Desktop into other languages. Please contact us if you would like to help create a version in your native language.
Is Miradi programming completed?
The short answer is “No”, Miradi development is not complete and will continue to expand and evolve. Currently, we are working hard to support all Miradi functions online and we hope to have full online functionality complete in 2022!
We are building Miradi using an agile programming method -- basically the software world's version of adaptive management. This involves gathering "user stories" describing what we want Miradi to do, and then rapidly and iteratively building software modules to meet these needs.
The current version of Miradi supports many, but not all, of the functions in the CMP Conservation Standards and it already provides significant value in helping conservation practitioners to adaptively manage their projects. But we have many ideas for additional functions that will be forthcoming in future releases. Since we are regularly making updates, please keep in mind:
- If you are using Miradi Desktop, you should always run the latest version so that you do not miss out on new features and improvements. Watch the "News" feature within Miradi Desktop, or visit www.miradishare.org regularly to check for new versions.
As a user, your feedback will help determine how Miradi evolves. If you find something (even minor) that bothers you, or if you have a grand idea of how to improve the software, we want to hear about it! We can't guarantee that we will satisfy all requests, but we will certainly consider your ideas - and at least get back to you to discuss them.
