Conservation Standards 5.0 terminology now available
The Conservation Measures Partnership has just released version 5.0 of the Open Standards for the Practice of Conservation (Conservation Standards) and it introduces some updated terms (see page 13 for a full list of new terms). Miradi Share now provides the option to use the following updated terms:
- Conservation Target and Human Wellbeing Target are replaced with Focal Value and Human Wellbeing Focal Value.
- Strategy is replaced with Action
- Human Stakeholders is replaced with Interested Parties
Apply the new terminology to your projects in Miradi Share
You have the option to apply the new CS 5.0 terminology in Miradi Share any time you choose. Once you switch to using the new terminology, you will see the new terms in all of your projects in Miradi Share. If you decide you no longer want to use the new terms, you can switch back to the original Conservation Standards terms any time you choose.
To apply the new terms in Miradi Share, click on the document icon in the upper right of your project and select the Conservation Standards 5.0 Terminology Set. To switch back to the original terms, select the Default terminology.
Create a custom terminology set for your organization's program space
Does your organization use its own set of terms? For example, do you prefer the term "Pressure" instead of "Threat", or "Outcome" instead of "Goal"? If you have a Miradi Team Plan, you can develop a custom terminology set that changes the terms your team sees in Miradi Share and make it available to all of your Miradi users. Contact us if you would like to explore using custom terms for your team's Miradi projects.
Terminology Change: Threat Results
In response to feedback from Miradi users, Miradi Share now refers to Threat Reduction Results as Threat Results. Many conservation actions are focused on threat mitigation, as well as threat reduction. The more generic term, "Threat Results", is intended to better capture the full scope of conservation efforts addressing threats to biodiversity and human wellbeing.
The change to "Threat Results" only applies to the Miradi Share user interface, it does not affect report document templates or the Miradi API. Any API calls to Miradi should still use "Threat Reduction Results".
